Our Mission

Put simply, our mission is to improve the quality of life for those we serve. Of course, we recognize that everyone’s idea of “quality of life” is different, which is why it’s so important to us to make you an active part of your own care plan. We want you to be in the driver’s seat regardless of any limitations or challenges you’re facing.

Most of all, we believe aging isn’t just about staying healthy, safe and independent. It’s also about living well.

Kristen Carlson Owner of Right at Home Galveston

Right at Home Galveston and Brazoria Counties is a locally owned and operated business providing in-home living and companion services. Our mission is to improve the quality of life for those we serve. We do this by providing high quality caregivers to serve you.

Right At Home, Greater Galveston area is locally owned and operated by Kristen Carlson. Prior to opening the Galveston RAH office, Kristen worked for over twelve years in medical management (8 years at the University of Texas Medical Branch and 5 years at the Center of Reproductive Medicine). Prior to moving to Galveston, she worked as a Financial Analyst at First Boston Corp in New York City. Kristen has a bachelor's degree in Sociology and an MBA from University of Houston Clear Lake.

Kristen has lived in Galveston since 1993. Kristen is actively involved in the Rotary Club of Galveston and was named Most Valuable Member in June 2009. She most recently served as President of the club 2017-2018 and served on the Board of Directors from 2009-2012. Kristen also serves as the Treasurer for the Galveston Art League, a non-profit art gallery. Kristen received her accreditation as a "Certified Senior Advisor" from the Society of Certified Senior Advisors in 2010. Kristen has two adult children, Taylor Greenwalt (Creative Services Coordinator for the Galveston Island Convention & Visitor's Bureau) and Sydney Greenwalt (co-owner of a Right at Home office in Round Rock, TX).

Kristen’s aunt, Estelle Greenwalt, was a great source of inspiration for opening the Right at Home office in Galveston. Estelle, a lifelong Galveston resident, was able to live happily at home until her death at the age of 91. Being able to provide safe, exceptional service to enable others like Estelle to stay 'right at home' as they grow older is what RAH Galveston is all about.

Free Wheelchair Mission

Globally, an estimated 70 million people with disabilities have no access to a wheelchair. Those who cannot walk must crawl or be carried to their destination. In collaboration with a network of like-minded partners, Free Wheelchair Mission has distributed more than 1 million wheelchairs to people with disabilities in 93 developing countries around the world, providing renewed dignity, independence and hope through the gift of mobility, at no cost to the recipient.

As an organization, our work with Free Wheelchair Mission began in 2016 as we looked for a partner that would help us further our mission of improving lives worldwide. To date, our team’s efforts have raised more than $400,000 that has funded over 5,000 wheelchairs, which were distributed through life-changing Vision Trips to Vietnam, Ecuador and Costa Rica.

Josiah’s House

Over half of the children living in the Dominican Republic live below the poverty line and can be found on the streets in at-risk surroundings in order to make money. Josiah’s House runs family-style homes that provide vulnerable boys and girls with the basic necessities, education, life skills, and family home atmosphere needed to succeed.

Recently, 70 Right at Home offices came together to support Josiah’s House by supplying everyday items for the children of Josiah’s House. The group delivered suitcases full of clothing, personal hygiene items, toys, and other supplies.
