How the Wilson Center in Grosse Pointe Can Help You
Visiting The Wilson Center
As an advocate for bringing services to our seniors, I was excited to visit The Wilson Center: Senior Resources for Independent Living in Grosse Pointe.
I was not disappointed! I could have stayed in Margaret’s office for hours, talking about services available in our community and how to educate our local residents about them. Margaret certainly has a passion for helping our local families and seniors.
- The Wilson Center can help older adults maintain their independence and improve their quality of life while going through mental and physical changes.
- They will visit you in your home to perform home safety evaluations and will recommend helpful adjustments in order for your home to evolve with your current needs.
- They can assist you and your family as you are going through life with dementia.
By far, the most innovative service they provide are the simulated driving tests.
In the name of research, I myself took a simulated driving test. It was very realistic. I even reacted annoyingly when a virtual person jaywalked in front of my vehicle. I also performed a scientific test to ensure realistic accuracy by driving up on the sidewalk – broke my windshields.
You can take this driving test to gain insight into how safe you are behind the wheel. As we age or go through changes in life, our ability to drive may become affected. This is not covered by insurance.
- Take this test if you have doubts whether or not you are still safe behind the wheel.
- Encourage a family member or loved one to take this test if you suspect they may no longer be safe to drive.
- Neurologists or other specialists can send their patients here as a final deciding factor to determine if they are still safe to drive.
Thank you for showing me around Margaret, I’m so happy to have you and the Wilson Center in our community.
