Erika Ackerman - Owner

Erika graduated from the Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. She began her career in advertising, working in-house for a financial executive magazine in Morristown, New Jersey. But her passion for art led her to become an Art Therapist working with seniors.

She works extensively with Alzheimer’s and dementia patients in assisted living facilities. The experience is humbling and rewarding. Erika decides that serving the elderly population is what she wants. She went back to college in 2014 to pursue a graduate degree in healthcare administration at the Centenary College.

“My research paper was on the aging population in the US and how the ‘silver wave,’ or ‘baby boomers,’ would affect the healthcare delivery system,” said Erika. “And home care arises as the answer to successful aging in place.” Eventually Erika brought Right at Home to Hackettstown and Newton to provide home care services for her local community.

Erika and her husband have four children. They love bike riding, travelling and watching sports.
