Kassie Leach Provides Extraordinary Care
Earns Right at Home Southwest Region Caregiver of the Year
Congratulations to Kassie Leach from Right at Home Kingwood, Texas, on her recognition as the 2023 Right at Home Southwest Region "Caregiver of the Year!" She was selected from thousands of other caregivers for her exemplary commitment to making a difference in the lives of her clients.
A Right at Home Kingwood veteran client was recently widowed and experiencing a heavy load of medical issues. On top of that, his living conditions would be a challenge to manage for anyone at any age. Kassie stepped up professionally and personally, putting in extraordinary efforts to help her client live with the care, dignity, and respect he deserved.
“I am so proud to have Kassie as part of our care team,” said Jim Royal, owner of Right at Home Kingwood. “She cares for all of our clients with the utmost dignity and respect and goes above and beyond to provide the best care to our veterans who have given so much to us and our country.”
One of Right at Home Kingwood’s first veteran clients had been recently widowed and lived in a camper with no shower, air conditioning, or laundry facilities. Legally blind, he had given up scheduling cataract surgery because he could not make the appointments at the VA hospital 35 miles away.
Kassie stepped in and helped the veteran schedule and keep all of his eye appointments, which turned out to be numerous pre- and post-operation visits for both eyes, and she coordinated home repairs to fix his shower, hot water, washer, dryer, and air conditioning. She even took home his laundry a few days a week to wash it on her own time so he would have clean clothing, sheets and towels. Once the veteran recovered from his cataract surgery, he was able to come back to a home in working order.
A Valued Member of Right at Home Kingwood's Caregiver Team
Kassie’s commitment to exceeding expectations is not only felt by her clients but by the office staff too.
“Kassie is always willing to accept overnight and hard-to-fill shifts to help out our schedulers and other caregivers,” said Royal.
Kassie volunteers to care for clients with chronic health conditions and illnesses, including COVID-19. She stays up to date on all of her training to provide exceptional care to her clients in the community.
Kassie’s compassion, selflessness and willingness to go the extra mile have made her a valued member of Right at Home and a beloved caregiver for seniors in the Kingwood area.
Honoring Our Caregivers
National and Regional Caregivers of the Year are the highest honors awarded by Right at Home. Caregivers are nominated for their exemplary commitment to making a difference in the lives of their clients and teams. The winners are selected by a committee that includes Right at Home representatives and community professionals from outside health care, senior care and caregiving organizations. The award is presented annually during the organization’s conference.
