Hear from Clients We’ve Served in Shorewood

“The employees are outstanding. The person who does some scheduling and billing is excellent and the care-worker is outstanding. She has a good rapport with my mother, is very caring, and is very competent at handling my mother who has trouble getting up. I've been caring for my mother for a while and don't have to help her with her bathroom needs anymore because of the caregiver.”

“They have taken a big weight off of my shoulders knowing that there is a company I can trust with health care individuals that can help my mom out. All of the workers have been very wonderful, and my mom enjoys them. I like that there has been a great level of detail, and the manager has worked really hard to meet my mom's needs. I live far away, so she has been very helpful in managing my mom's case, given I am so far away.”

Meet Wendy

Hi! I’m Wendy! I’ve worked as a Caregiver at the San Camillo senior facility for 5 years and with a home care agency for the last year. I enjoy cooking for my clients. There is something special about working with seniors, I have enjoyed it so much. I’ve learned about being patient and how appreciative my clients have been with having a caregiver is moving. I enjoy reading and enjoy health & wellness studies and topics. I have a positive attitude and am very reliable and patient. I do not dwell on the negative. I’m very honest and respectful of my clients and their homes. When I’m not working I am often with friends, with my exercise club, or at home with my family.

A Shorewood, Wisconsin female caregiver named Barb.

Meet Barb

Hi! I’m Barb! I have worked in CBRF’s providing care for 12 residents with various physical needs including varying stages of dementia. I also care for my 90 y/o mother who resides with me. I truly enjoy working with dementia clients. I’ve spent a great deal of time learning about the types and stages of dementia and how to interact with those with this disease to get the best outcome. I have a vested interest in learning about them, their likes and dislikes, in order to provide the best care for their individual needs. I am also an amateur artist and enjoy many arts and crafts. I also am an avid reader of British detective stories. I love to travel and have traveled extensively both domestically and overseas. I am interested in different cultures, traditions, and people. My client’s families can count on me to care for their loved ones with respect and dignity and compassion. Just as I would care for my own family member. I am punctual, professional, very clean, and trustworthy. My personality is best described as easy going and I love to laugh. I am a professional volunteer and I love to serve.

What are signs my elderly loved one needs additional help?

If your loved one starts needing help at home, they might not always know or feel comfortable reaching out for help. It’s important to watch for warning signs that your elderly loved ones may need a little extra help.

These may include hoarding, poor hygiene, skipping essential medications, and frequent dehydration. If you aren’t sure if your elderly loved one needs additional help, we can schedule a consultation to discuss your unique needs and care plan.

What is in-home senior care?

In-home senior care provides an alternative option to senior living homes. With in-home care, your elderly loved one can maintain their agency from the comfort of a familiar environment. Caregivers visit your loved one at home to provide help with daily activities, companionship, and more.

Many elderly individuals appreciate being able to remain in their homes and in control of how much care they receive. The right option depends on your loved one, their personal interests, and physical needs.

Why is nutrition so important for senior adults?

Nutrition is an essential factor in maintaining a healthy lifestyle in senior adults. Eating a regular, balanced diet as well as getting proportional physical activity is essential to a strong immune system. Elderly individuals with poor nutrition are at increased risk of developing infections, struggling to recover from colds, and hospitalization.

What are early warning signs of dementia?

Dementia can significantly impact your loved one’s daily life. While you cannot prevent or cure dementia, early detection can help ensure your loved one gets the care they need.

Unfortunately, dementia can be difficult to detect as many changes are also associated with aging. Signs you can look out for include:

  • Frequent memory loss
  • Difficulty with daily activities
  • Inability to effectively communicate
