Free Wheelchair Mission Trip, Lang Ky
Sandy Quartuccio, co-owner of Right at Home North Shore Long Island, visited Vietnam in 2018 as part of the Free Wheelchair Mission Vision Trip. She shares some of her experience and the people she met on the trip.
Lang Ky’s livelihood was rice farming until 2007, when high blood pressure led to a stroke that limits his mobility. His legs are numb and he suffers from arthritis. With only a cane to help him get around it has been very difficult for Lang Ky to go anywhere in the rugged countryside where he lives and he is afraid of falling. His wife, Vang, and their children and grandchildren all take turns caring for him but it has become increasingly difficult. He applied for a wheelchair through Free Wheelchair Mission’s partner in Vietnam earlier this year. He is so happy to receive his wheelchair, which will make him feel more confident about going out and will enable his wife to care for him more safely.
