Free Wheelchair Mission Vision Trip to Vietnam

Right at Home North Shore Long Island owner Sandy Quartuccio is part of the Free Wheelchair Mission Vision trip to Vietnam later this year. During this trip, the Vision trip team will be assisting in the building and distribution of wheelchairs, giving the gift of mobility.

Sandy reflects on what going to Vietnam for this once-in-a-lifetime Vision trip means to her:

My late father spent much of my childhood away in Vietnam. He worked for an international construction company, Morrison-Knudsen, during the Vietnam war, rebuilding the country's infrastructure. He wrote to us often about his job while he was there. I have never been to that part of the world. I’m 61 years old now. My father died in 2009. I want to see the country that my father was so connected to.

Imagine a life in which you are limited to the area that you can navigate by crawling or the area that someone is physically able to carry you. Knowing that I can lift someone up, give them the gift of mobility, and expand their horizons is priceless. I have traveled a lot and I love to learn about other countries and other cultures that are very different than the United States. I learn so much more about the country and the culture by going away from the tourist spots, mingling with the local population, and experienced their day-to-day living. This vision trip gives me an opportunity to do that.
