Become a Professional Caregiver

Is Professional Caregiving for You?

Want to make a difference in someone’s life and get paid at the same time? Well, professional Caregiving might be a good career choice for you.

There is considerable scope for getting involved ranging from just helping out with errands and chores and as a personal assistant, or Homemaker Companion, as we call them; to being a Personal Care Aide assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs); to helping someone pass through their final stages of life.

Flexible Hours with Consistency is our GoalCaregiver helping senior up

You can work just a few hours a week or, you can choose to work full-time, or something in between. You let us know when you are available for work and we will bear that in mind when developing your work schedule and matching you with prospective clients. We respect your right to scope your level of work to meet your preferred lifestyle. We just need a bit of notice (two-weeks) if your availability changes.

We think most people, our clients included, prefer consistency, and we do our utmost to provide that. But we also understand that ‘Life Happens’ both for you as well as our clients. There will always be periods of instability but for those looking for a guaranteed paycheck we have a Guaranteed Hours Program - you choose the hours and we do the rest. Some conditions apply of course, but we want to make everyone’s life as stable and consistent as we can. Call Sonia, our HR Coordinator, to find out more about the Guaranteed Hours Program.

Volunteer with a Paycheck

  • Don’t have any professional caregiving credentials but would like the opportunity to serve our seniors?
  • Looking to do some meaningful work for others but can only commit to a part-time schedule?
  • Would you welcome a chance to ‘pay-it-forward’ when it comes to taking care of our senior community?

Some of our Care Associates say that their work is like volunteering with a paycheck. They love helping seniors and feel heartened by what they do. Often these are return to workforce mothers with grown children or retirees that are still seeking to be active and engaged within their community. Caregiving is not just for credentialed long-term caregivers. There is ample scope at Right at Home Northwest to help others without a healthcare credential, however, background and character reference checks are still required.

We accept non-credentialed applicants into our Home Maker Companion positions. These positions help with transportation, trips to the doctor, shopping and errands, light-housework, social interaction, and worry-free companionship.

If you’d like to be able to provide a bit more care like personal grooming, assisting with personal hygiene, assisting persons in and out of wheelchairs and/or beds, then you would need to complete a Home Care Aide Certification. We can assist you in the application and training process and can use you for tasks that you are considered competent for as long as you are pursuing certification.
