Hawaii Charity Walk and Eat Party

Hawaii Meals on Wheels Charity Walk and Eat

Right at Home’s Operation Manager, Rick Tabor joined his Hawaii Meals on Wheels friends on Saturday May 19, 2018 for the 40th Annual Hawaii Charity Walk & Eat Party. Hawaii Meals on Wheels was one of fifty charities represented with over 2,000 walkers. They started and ended at Ala Moana Beach in Honolulu, Hawaii bright and early on a beautiful morning in Paradise. They walked five miles down and back up Kalakaua Avenue.

How it all started

In 1974 the Hawai`i Lodging & Tourism Association sponsored a charitable “Superwalk” to benefit one major charitable organization. In 1979, the Hawai`i Lodging & Tourism Association members voted to extend the reach of support offered by the Walk’s fund-raising capability. The Visitor Industry CHARITY WALK is the result of this decision. All Hawaii non-profit charities are eligible to benefit.

The Walk and Eat

Walkers were treated to food, drink and fun at checkpoints along the walk route. All checkpoints were operated and supplied with refreshments and helpers by Hawai`i hotels and allied organizations.Entertainment was also provided at many checkpoints and at the end of the walk. Hawaiian music & celebrities filled the air. You never know who you’ll walk into on the Hawaii Charity Walk & Eat. We hope you had an Onolicious time. Aloha & Mahalo.

There were eighteen stations along the way. All with good eats & refreshments. Breakfast was served before the walk. And lunch was served afterwards. This might be the only Walk a person gained weight on. Needless to say, no one went home hungry.
