Right at Home's CPR and BBQ Retreat
Right at Home's CPR and BBQ Retreat
On Sunday, May 20, 2018, The Right at Home Pearl City team had a fun day together at the office. This was even more special because it was the first time that the whole team has gathered.
Right at Home's caregivers are spread out throughout the Island of Oahu and are very busy during their off hours. So, it's rare for us to see each other. The gathering was a great way for folks to meet each other and put faces with names. Our mantra of only hiring caregivers we'd hire for our families means, everyone of our staff is incredibly nice and very social.
We started the day with Ken Bamico's CPR and First Aid Certification Training. We had five members of our team renew their certifications; Melanie, Arlene, Derrealyn, Jahniece, and Carla. The rest of the team is current on their certifications. Another certification training will be held in November.
The class was promptly followed with Rick Tabor, Operations Manager, regressing into his Country Kitchen Assistant Manager Fry Cook days and barbecuing up beef and veggie burgers...a two grilled sizzler deal. We took an hour break for a talking stories social and BBQ lunch gathering.
We spent the afternoon playing a fun-filled game of New Employees Manual Jeopardy. We draw a number and the person with that number took turns selecting a card from one of the three Jeopardy game categories; administrative, professionalism or infrastructure. We then discussed the policy or procedure as a team. Just a note on the process. The team nailed every policy and procedure. The discussions were incredible. We learned from each other and grew as a team.
Being together, visiting, sharing food, and contributing to the new employee operations manual in an experiential fun way to join as a team, while learning the most recent, up to date, evidenced based, best practiced Right at Home Oahu style caregiver policies. It doesn't get much better than that.
