Falls are a leading cause of hospitalization, loss of independence, and even death in older adults. In this webinar, you’ll review intrinsic health conditions and impairments from external hazards and factors that increase the risk of falls. You’ll also learn fall prevention strategies, including behavior modifications and a home movement routine you can add directly into your care setting.

Participants will be able to:

  • Define falls and fall risk factors in older adults.
  • Explain how alcohol and medication use can contribute to falls.
  • Identify fall prevention strategies.

About the Presenter:

Dr. Nicole Didyk has been a geriatrician/internist in Southwestern Ontario, Canada, since 2004. She completed her medical training and residency at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. She is an associate clinical professor at McMaster University and has been involved in the medical education of physicians, students, and other health professionals. Dr. Didyk’s passion for education has led to the launch of The Wrinkle, an online educational resource for older adults, their care partners, and health professionals.
