Join us for a one-hour webinar that bridges the fields of aging and disability. Using a life-course model of aging well with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), this presentation focuses on the needs and challenges of adults with IDD, the social-environmental context of their lives, and strategies to improve and promote healthy aging. The discussion provides examples of family support, environmental and technological interventions, and a family-centered approach to future planning.

Participants will be able to:

About the Presenter:

Tamar Heller, Ph.D., is a distinguished professor with the Department of Disability and Human Development at the University of Illinois Chicago and the director of its University Center of Excellence in Developmental Disabilities. Her research on developmental disabilities and aging includes self-directed and family supports, long-term services, and bridging aging and disabilities. She has written over 260 publications and co-edited six books. She is past board president of the Association of University Centers on Disabilities and a co-founder of the national Sibling Leadership Network and Bridging Aging and Disability International.
