The Marblehead Community Steps Up During the COVID-19 Pandemic
Rosaleen Doherty, owner of Right at Home Salem Marblehead, also sits on the Board of Directors of the Marblehead Council on Aging. As a member of the Board of Directors for the Marblehead Council on Aging for over five years, she has had an opportunity to be a part of a lot of incredible community events and programs that help seniors in our community. All of us at Right at Home are so excited to be a part of such a compassionate and service oriented community, and lately that community has really stepped up to the plate in the face of COVID-19.
Recently, Marblehead Reporter featured an article highlighting how "Volunteers help Marblehead Council on Aging keep pace" during the current pandemic. Through Marblehead Proud, a town wide initiative that matched volunteers with areas of service, the COA picked up 25 volunteers to help shop and deliver groceries for senior citizens in our community.
The COA delivers groceries from The Marblehead Food Pantry and The Boston Food Bank Commodity Supplemental Food Program as it always has, to seniors who qualify for the service. Demand has risen, and so have the COA's service offerings, including a new "grab-n-go" lunch on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, as well as well-being checks, where volunteers call seniors weekly to make sure they are doing well.
COVID-19 can not slow down the amazing efforts of the Marblehead Council on Aging, and Right at Home Salem Marblehead is as proud as ever to be a part of it.
