Embracing the Power of Exercise during National Exercise Day

In a world where the pace never seems to slow down, finding time for exercise can often feel like an impossible task. However, amidst our busy schedules and endless to-do lists, it's essential to prioritize our health and well-being. Exercise isn't just about achieving a certain body shape; it's about nurturing our bodies, minds, and spirits. In this blog post, we delve into the importance of exercise and share inspiring stories from members of our team who have embraced the power of movement in their lives.

5 Tips to Embrace Exercise:

  • Find What You Love: Whether it's running, yoga, dancing, or hiking, discover an activity that brings you joy and makes you feel alive.

  • Make It a Habit: Schedule regular exercise sessions into your week, treating them as non-negotiable appointments with yourself.

  • Start Small, Aim High: Begin with manageable goals and gradually increase the intensity or duration of your workouts as you build strength and stamina.

  • Mix It Up: Keep your workouts interesting by incorporating a variety of exercises and activities to challenge different muscle groups and prevent boredom.

  • Listen to Your Body: Pay attention to how your body feels during and after exercise and adjust your routine accordingly. Rest when you need it, and don't push yourself too hard.

Stories from Our Team:

Maria, Marketing assistant:

I always thought exercise meant hitting the gym, but I actually hated it. I felt uncomfortable, didn't know how to use the machines, and stuck to cardio. Hiring a personal trainer was too pricey, and repeating the same routine bored my brain. But sitting all day left me stiff, so I consulted my therapist.

Through this journey, I realized exercise isn't just about weightit's about movement. This truth became evident to me after exploring various activities. Talking with my therapist turned out to be a blessing—a luxury not everyone has. However, the takeaway here is to try different things and see what works for you.

I needed a challenge to stay committed and motivated. So, I explored other activities. Hiking became a passion. Once a month, I'd trek to a natural spot, like a mountain or waterfall. Recently, I even tackled an 8.6-mile sunrise hike up a 3,150-meter mountain.

Dancing also grabbed my heart. Oriental dance, with its veils and swords, let me express myself and connect with my body. To push further, I tried aerial silks, facing fears while building muscle and discovering a new level of strength and grace.

In the end, I realized movement makes me happy. Achieving new goals keeps my mind engaged. Now, I exercise five times a week minimum and enjoy Sundays in nature with my dog.

My point? Exercise is crucial, but it's how you do it that matters. Find what motivates you. Whether it's the gym or something else, embrace movement. It's the key to a fulfilling exercise routine.

Desiree Buchler, HR Coordinator: I enjoy exercise because it allows me to focus on myself and my health for an hour a day. I love feeling strong and powerful after a good weightlifting session or cycle session. I may feel tired in the moment but afterwards I always feel better about myself and my day!! Here are some videos of me instructing cycle!

Hali Down, Director of Operations: I grew up in a small town in northern Canada where my parents instilled in us the power of the outdoors. Being outdoors is great for your health in exercise, a place to escape to clear your mind and test your limits.

Exercise is a gift we give ourselves, providing countless physical, mental, and emotional benefits. As you read through the stories of our team members, we hope you feel inspired to prioritize movement in your own life. Remember, it's not about being perfect; it's about showing up for yourself and taking small steps towards a healthier, happier you.
