Ashleigh Ekstrom Cares for Clients Like Family
and Earns Right at Home Northwest Central Region Caregiver of the Year
Congratulations to Ashleigh Ekstrom from Right at Home Seattle, Washington, on her recognition as the 2024 Right at Home Northwest Central Region Caregiver of the Year! Ashleigh was selected from thousands of other caregivers for her exemplary commitment to making a difference in the lives of her clients and team members.
A daughter of one of Ashleigh’s clients refers to Ashleigh’s care as making an extraordinary impact on the client’s well-being. Ashleigh’s professional personal care is matched with a genuine affection for those in her care.
When the client, who is 100 years old, broke his leg, Ashleigh was committed to helping him regain his mobility. Ashleigh helped him overcome what could have easily become a sedentary lifestyle by accompanying him on countless doctor visits, adhering to the care plan, and motivating him through ongoing and often painful exercises.
Ashleigh takes initiative, anticipating the needs of her clients without hesitation. She has unbelievable observation skills, noting changes in her clients’ conditions and identifying things that may need additional attention. She does this with her clients’ well-being in mind so they can live healthier and happier lives.
“What truly makes Ashleigh an amazing caregiver is her unwavering commitment to her clients,” said Leah Mahankata, client care coordinator at Right at Home Seattle Eastside and Pierce County. “She treats her clients as if they were her own family, providing the same level of care and attention she would give her closest relatives.”
Another client refers to Ashleigh as the mother she never had. The client grew up in the foster system, not knowing her biological parents. “Ashleigh has provided warmth, making me feel wanted and important,” said the client.
Ashleigh's commitment to her clients extends to her fellow caregivers and office staff. She is reliable and steps in to fulfill shifts to ensure clients receive the care they need.
“Our office is extremely proud of Ashleigh,” said Ben Solomon, owner of Right at Home Seattle Eastside and Pierce County. “She approaches her work with empathy and understanding and recognizes the unique needs of her clients and their families. We couldn’t be more thankful to have her as part of the Right at Home team.”
Ashleigh’s compassion, selflessness, and willingness to go the extra mile have made her a valued member of Right at Home and a beloved caregiver in the Seattle community.
Honoring Our Caregivers
National and Regional Caregivers of the Year are the highest honors awarded by Right at Home. Caregivers are nominated for their exemplary commitment to making a difference in the lives of their clients and teams. The winners are selected by a committee that includes Right at Home representatives and community professionals from outside health care, senior care and caregiving organizations. The award is presented annually during the organization’s conference.
