Right at Home Team Highlights from Moving Day 2022

On Sunday, October 16th, the Right at Home North Shore/Chicago Metro team participated in the National Parkinson's Foundation Moving Day Walk.

Heather Lantry, RAH Owner and General Manager, walked in memory of her grandfather, Bill Igo. "My Grandpa Bill was a proud, independent man, and watching this disease diminish him was gut-wrenching. As part of our mission - to improve the quality of life for those we serve - who we serve includes not only individuals living with Parkinson's Disease and their family members, but we also serve the greater community in Chicago. Participating in Moving Day allows us to serve our clients and the community, adhering to our mission and values."

It was a lovely day- cool, but sunny along the lake shore with some clouds rolling in mid-event. The turnout was substantial with lots of multi-generational teams, including members of our team who brought their children. Participation was high in the movement activities led by groups such as Rock Steady Boxing and Silver Sponsor Movement Revolution, with people joining in before, during, and after the walk itself. Both the short route and the full walk route were heavily traveled, with people stopping to take pictures, cheering each other on, and enjoying the beautiful views and sunshine.

NBC News anchor Natalie Martinez was the emcee of the event and shared a bit about her own personal experience of a loved one with Parkinson's Disease. The Cook County Board President, Toni Preckwinkle was also in attendance, presenting a county decree in honor of the National Parkinson's Foundation and the event.

You Can Still Donate!

The walk may be over, but the need for support services and research is ongoing. Donations to our team can still be made through November 13th.
