North Shore Senior Center's Annual Gala 2019
Right At Home North Shore/Chicago Metro is a Proud Sponsor of the North Shore Senior Center’s Annual Gala
The Gala brings together North Shore Senior Center members, board members, and community partners for a night of celebration, collaboration, and fundraising. The event this year was held on Saturday, September 28th, at the beautiful Skokie Country Club in Glencoe with the theme, “Empowering You, Your Family, and The Community.” Right at Home Executive Director, Heather Lantry and her husband Derek, as well as Lily Calder, Director of Marketing, and her husband Michael, attended the evening’s events, which featured cocktails, dinner, a silent auction, and a paddle raise. The event raised a record $250,000 for the center.
Since 1956, the North Shore Senior Center has worked to empower seniors by providing the resources they need to live safely and independently. In addition to providing a wonderful community space where seniors can gather and socialize, the center also provides educational programming and social services. A large portion of the funds raised from the annual Gala go directly to the North Shore Senior Center’s Adult Protective Services.
Adult Protective Services restores the dignity and safety of adults with disabilities ages 18 to 59, and seniors over the age of 60 who find themselves victims of abuse, neglect, self-neglect, or financial exploitation and may have few resources to change their situation and protect themselves. These services are provided to residents of the 14 communities that make up Maine, New Trier and Northfield townships in the northern suburbs of Chicago. North Shore Senior Center’s protective services investigate around 200 cases annually, with financial exploitation being the most frequent offense. All Adult Protective Services are confidential and free of charge thanks in large part to the generous contributions of members and community partners at the annual Gala.
As a family-run local business, Right at Home North Shore/Chicago Metro is always looking for ways to actively engage and improve the community in which we live and serve. It has been our honor and privilege to partner with the North Shore Senior Center all these years in working toward our shared goal of keeping seniors happy, healthy, and safe at home where they may age in place with dignity and grace.
