As the aging population continues to grow, it is imperative that we understand the unique ethical challenges facing those caring for older adults.

This one-hour webinar explores ethical considerations around autonomy, informed consent, and mental capacity to help you promote a person-centered culture of empathy, respect and dignity. The discussion reviews how to recognize your own biases that may impact the care of older adults and presents assessment tools that you can ethically integrate into your care setting.

Participants will be able to:

  • Define autonomy and the role of the health care provider in upholding patient autonomy.
  • Identify the role of the health care provider in preserving patient rights.
  • Describe the differences between capacity and competence.
