What does Right at Home - Milwaukee do?
We provide in-home senior care services. We meet clients where they live – typically at home, yet also in other locations like 55+ communities and Independent Living locations! Today, many individuals are seeking alternatives to Assisted Living communities, opting to stay at home.
With the decision to stay home, seniors need someone to care for them. Sometimes children and family members step in, but this can be a significant responsibility. We come into clients’ homes and help them with their daily activities, like errands, meal prepping, and more.
How does in-home care differ from nursing homes?
More and more, seniors want to maintain their independence and age in place. Environments like senior and nursing homes can take away an individual’s autonomy and make it feel like they’re losing control over their lives.
In-home care meets seniors where they’re at, regardless of where they live, and their needs. We work with every client to develop a custom in-home care plan designed to fit their unique situation.
What is the best way to approach a senior home care conversation?
Electing to get in-home help can be challenging. Many individuals want to address their own needs when getting older – sometimes beyond their true capability. Unfortunately, this can make conversations with loved ones about care support difficult, even when you’re trying to help.
We recently wrote an article on how to navigate a loved one resisting in-home care. Most importantly: lead with empathy. Your loved one should feel like you’re on their side, not fighting against them.
How has Right at Home - Milwaukee responded to COVID-19?
We have been very proactive in taking preventive measures when it comes to COVID-19. We follow the CDC recommendations very closely and update our protocols as they do. Our caregivers regularly self-evaluate for symptoms and never enter a client’s home if they’re not feeling well.
Our team also practices mask-wearing, social distancing, and regular handwashing. Additionally, we were in one of the earliest groups to get vaccinated. You can learn more about all the ways we’re working to keep our clients safe here.
