Ellen Butterbaugh Leaves Everlasting Impression
and Earns Right at Home West Region Caregiver of the Year
Congratulations to Ellen Butterbaugh from Right at Home Tucson, Arizona, on her recognition as the 2024 Right at Home West Region Caregiver of the Year! She was selected from among thousands of other caregivers for her exemplary commitment to making a difference in the lives of her clients and team members.
Caregiving is a calling for Ellen. For more than 12 years, she has provided compassionate care and support to seniors and adults with disabilities in her community. To them, she is so much more than a caregiver—she’s family.
“Ellen’s care for her clients comes from her heart,” said Karen Kochhar, owner of Right at Home Tucson. “Her dedication to providing the best care and work ethic is a shining example of what every caregiver should be. Families often see her as an extension of their family.”
Greg Trail recalls Ellen instantly, as Ellen cared for his mother for more than three years until her passing. She was 99 years old. During those years, Ellen provided meal preparation, transportation, and personal hygiene assistance. Later, the care extended to accompanying his mother on doctor visits, transporting her to receive medical care, and watching over her when her condition changed, which led to contacting emergency services on several occasions. Greg is thankful Ellen was there for his mom.
“My mom and Ellen grew to love one another,” Greg said. “They became the best of friends, and I am forever grateful for her service.”
“I am so proud to have Ellen as part of our care team,” said Karen. “She is committed to providing the very best care to her clients, which puts them and their families at ease. She is very deserving of this incredible honor.”
Ellen’s compassion, selflessness, and willingness to go the extra mile for her clients have made her a valued member of Right at Home and a beloved caregiver for seniors in the Oro Valley and Tucson areas.
Honoring Our Caregivers
National and Regional Caregivers of the Year are the highest honors awarded by Right at Home. Caregivers are nominated for their exemplary commitment to making a difference in the lives of their clients and teams. The winners are selected by a committee that includes Right at Home representatives and community professionals from outside health care, senior care and caregiving organizations. The award is presented annually during the organization’s conference.
