Mental Health Awareness Month

Woman staring into space

May is Mental Health Awareness month! This moment serves as a reminder to further strengthen our aim to care for the ones living with difficult conditions and keeping an eye on the mental health of those for whom we care.

Home care is an essential form of companionship care for those suffering with certain mental illnesses, especially amid the current stay-at-home protocols recently put into practice all over the world.

Our caregivers are thoroughly trained to handle clients with dementia. Right At Home’s caregiver training summary states the course “engages the learner in considering behavior as the language of dementia,” and “offers strategies for interpreting behavior as communication.” The courses provide a “problem-solving approach to addressing behavioral expressions of distress, including pain.”
It’s without a doubt that dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease, specifically, can be very difficult feats for those suffering from them. Likewise, these cases can also generate considerable levels of stress and anxiety for the sufferer’s loved ones. We understand that hardship, and the subsequent eagerness to seek the best support available.

Having an at-home companion for folks in need can help ease these concerns. Right At Home’s caregivers are here to help. We aim to ease feelings of isolation and stress with ardent dedication.

With May being Mental Health Awareness month and June being Alzheimer’s Awareness month, Right At Home’s staff sees these moments of thoughtfulness as a reminder to remain as helpful as we can for our clients and their loved ones.

As our focus on mental health and wellness grows stronger by the day. We continue to remind ourselves what it means to #BeEssential during periods of awareness like these.
Like any other month, May will be committed to the sense of companionship that we’re happy to offer.

Find the senior care, and personal care services that best suits your loved ones. Join us in our mission to #BeEssential!
