Right at Home Winchester Is Proud to Support Our Community
Right at Home Winchester has fostered a strong and active relationship with both the Veterans Administration and the Shenandoah Area Agency on Aging to provide home care services to veterans and seniors in the Northern Shenandoah Valley that may otherwise not be able to afford the help they need to stay in their homes. They have employed hundreds of caregivers in our community and served countless senior citizens, veterans and disabled adults.
“We didn’t realize when we began this endeavor how fortunate we would be to be in the position to help out so many people in our community by providing them with jobs as caregivers. We started out aiming to help our Senior Citizens to age gracefully in their homes, and are proud to have also developed a large family of trusted caregivers working with us to support them along the way!” says owner and administrator Peter Lawrence.
Right at Home approached the SAAA shortly after opening in the Valley with the offer to help and now serves well over 50 clients scattered throughout 5 counties with both personal care and homemaker service. Mary Ann Gardner, the Director of Care Management for SAAA says “They have made it possible for us to provide services to locations in the valley that have been difficult to serve due to location and distance. It is so nice to know that if I am in need of personal assistance with any client they are only a phone call away. I feel confident that our clients will receive the care and respect that they deserve with their in home care.I know that the staff of Right at Home is dependable and personally committed to our mission to serve our senior population in their homes for as long as safely possible. I would feel confident placing my family in their care, knowing that they are safe and well taken care of.”
As a veteran of Foreign War and the Marine Corps Lawrence is especially proud of his relationship with the VA in Martinsburg and the veterans in the area. So many of our veterans are at an advanced age and of modest means, and this service allows them to remain at home safely and with dignity, comfort and a connection to the medical community. Right at Home caregivers are trained to report any change in condition to the veterans family and to their VA medical representative; an extra set of eyes and ears is extremely important for these men and women.
In the course of developing a “Preferred Partner” relationship with Valley Health, Right at Home was selected as the home care provider to support the initial rollout of the “bundling” program, which is an ongoing and ever changing initiative to provide the best possible care for our community by implementing Home Care for patients upon discharge to avoid needless readmissions. “The opportunity to be partnered with Valley Health as they continue to find the best ways to keep our community healthy is a great honor for us. It was a natural fit because Valley Health needs to offer the highest quality home care available to ensure that this program is a success when it is perfected, and we are built around offering well managed, top quality home care for everyone we serve” says Debbie Smith, Right at Home’s Director of Operations.
Home Care is an essential part of safety for many seniors and as a community as a whole, we can find ways to help many people in need around the Valley.
