COVID-19 Safety Protocols and Emergency Preparedness

COVID-19 Safety Protocols and Emergency Preparedness

Right at Home Boston Metro West’s greatest priority is the health and well-being of our clients and caregivers. As a society, we are facing unprecedented challenges presented by the Coronavirus (COVID-19). As a leading provider of home care services, we recognize our team serves a vulnerable population, and we take that privilege very seriously.

Potential exposure will remain lowest for those who can stay in their homes, wherever they may call home, with limited outside contact. It is our desire to work with you and your family to maintain this option for your loved one.

We want to share our policies and procedures aimed at mitigating the hazard to the high-risk group that includes many of our clients, namely those with chronic underlying health conditions that reduce their immune response.

These will evolve and be updated as necessary based on continued surveillance of the CDC and Mass Department of Health updates.

They are:

  • Right at Home will provide employees bottles of hand sanitizer that meets CDC standards
  • Screening of employees based on the recommendations of the CDC, related to travel and symptoms
  • Any employee exhibiting symptoms resembling those of COVID-19 will be advised to seek medical care immediately
  • The same policy will apply to job applicants for caregiving positions
  • Employees are being re-trained on “Infection Prevention and Control”
  • Caregivers are expected to follow the policies and procedures of any facility in which they work, as well as those of Right at Home

The below precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 will be reinforced.

  • hand hygiene
  • respiratory etiquette
  • staying home if sick
  • staying at least 6 feet from others when possible
  • cleaning frequently touched objects and surfaces
  • avoiding close contact with anyone who is sick
  • finding an alternative to shaking hands and hugging

COVID-19 is creating many “never before” moments that we are all working through together. We thank you for the opportunity to serve you and your loved ones. If you should have any questions, please feel free to reach out to our office at any time.

Has a loved one passed away due to COVID-19 complications?

The FEMA Government Funeral Expenses reimbursement program helps pay for the cost of a family member’s funeral expenses that passed directly OR indirectly due to COVID. The assistance is limited to a maximum reimbursement amount of $9,000 per funeral and a maximum of $35,500 per application. Though pre-paid funerals are not eligible for reimbursement, additional expenses above and beyond the pre pay could be reimbursed. As of this date, there is no deadline to apply, and a funding cap has not been established.
