Steve and Carole Luber - Owners of Right at Home of Central Maryland since June 2003

After graduating from Towson State University with a degree in Business, Steve successfully worked for several large corporations. After Carole graduated from college, she worked for several years in Pathology before becoming a stay at home mom to their three young children.

When Steve decided to open the franchise, Carole joined him in the family business. They chose the in home care field after struggling to find care for their own parents. They chose Right at Home after researching the company, and getting to know it’s founder Alan Hager, who shared their passion for helping seniors and adults receive the highest quality care possible. Together, Steve and Carole grew Right at Home of Central Maryland into the largest and most successful franchise in the country. Our History

Our Founder, Allen Hager.During his years working as a hospital administrator, our founder Allen Hager watched many patients, especially seniors, leave the hospital and return home. But they did not necessarily return to health. Allen found that, once at home, a lot of his former patients were unable to care for themselves. He knew that with a little help, most of these people could lead healthy, happy lives in their homes. This became the idea for Right at Home.

After talking to dozens of families about the challenges they faced and what kinds of care would help, he became a certified nursing assistant to experience firsthand the needs of people who required professional assistance to continue living at home.

Today, with the help of Allen’s insights, Right at Home has grown to over 600 locations that serve tens of thousands of clients across the U.S. and around the world.

Our Philanthropies

Right at Home’s mission is “to improve the quality of life for those we serve,” and expanding our mission to serve others around the world is truly a pleasure. We support many organizations that help people live independently.

Free Wheelchair Mission

Globally, an estimated 70 million people with disabilities have no access to a wheelchair. Those who cannot walk must crawl or be carried to their destination. In collaboration with a network of like-minded partners, Free Wheelchair Mission has distributed more than 1 million wheelchairs to people with disabilities in 93 developing countries around the world, providing renewed dignity, independence and hope through the gift of mobility, at no cost to the recipient.

As an organization, our work with Free Wheelchair Mission began in 2016 as we looked for a partner that would help us further our mission of improving lives worldwide. To date, our team’s efforts have raised more than $400,000 that has funded over 5,000 wheelchairs, which were distributed through life-changing Vision Trips to Vietnam, Ecuador and Costa Rica.

Josiah’s House

Over half of the children living in the Dominican Republic live below the poverty line and can be found on the streets in at-risk surroundings in order to make money. Josiah’s House runs family-style homes that provide vulnerable boys and girls with the basic necessities, education, life skills, and family home atmosphere needed to succeed.

Recently, 70 Right at Home offices came together to support Josiah’s House by supplying everyday items for the children of Josiah’s House. The group delivered suitcases full of clothing, personal hygiene items, toys, and other supplies.
