Your Career as a Caregiver

A Note about COVID-19

Now, more than ever, it’s clear how essential caregivers really are. The people we serve rely on our caregivers, not just for companionship during a time of isolation, but also for assistance with their basic needs. Without dedicated caregivers, many seniors and adults with disabilities would be left with little support. You can make all the difference.

Our goal is to improve the quality of life of those we serve and provide hope, healing and second chances. This starts with our wonderful caregivers, who we call Care Angels.

We hire amazing Care Angels and help them succeed through excellent support and training. We reward our Care Angels through weekly pay, monthly performance bonuses, health care coverage, tuition reimbursement, vacation incentives and financial planning assistance.

Read more below about the unique positions we offer, along with the training and support we provide to every Right at Home caregiver.

Caring Professional and Reliable

In order for each of us to find fulfillment in our careers and to improve the quality of life of those we serve, we must be Caring, Professional and Reliable. CPR is the heartbeat of and is essential to our work each day.

Caring means that you genuinely care about your clients and put their needs ahead of your own while on shift. Caring means that you do all you can to help your clients live full and happy lives.

We never criticize or speak ill of the company or others in front of clients. We do not discuss controversial topics including race, religion and politics with clients. We do not discuss personal or intimate topics. And any and all concerns should be brought to the attention of the office staff.
  • Professional behavior means that you continue to improve your skills as a caregiver so that you can provide the highest level of care. It means that you follow the care plans, recommend changes if necessary and are fully engaged when with clients and not distracted by personal issues or your phone. It means that you provide the highest level of care. You are a professional caregiver.

Reliable means that you are able to be to trusted - You are on time, you make all your shifts, you do not change your availability last minute, you execute the care plan, and you consistently provide a very high level of care. Reliable means you keep your word.

Our CERT (Caregiver Education Retention and Training) program provides ongoing, specialized training that ensures that our caregivers understand the high standards of care expected by Right at Home of Central Ohio. Some courses offer credit hours. Through Right at Home University – the educational arm of our CERT Program – caregivers are given training on issues that help them develop as better overall caregivers, as well as deal with very specific situations. Caregivers receive weekly job performance tips, monthly training modules through RAH University, and quarterly in-person training on Ambulation and Transferring, Cognitive Care, CPR, and Professional Communication Skills. Right at Home's new-hire caregivers demonstrate their skill sets monthly in our Caregiver Training Room. In some circumstances, caregivers act as if a mannequin is a live person, in others, another caregiver is used in demonstration.
