Gloriose Ntibarikure Rekindles With Client in Final Hours
and Earns Right at Home Southeast Region Caregiver of the Year
Congratulations to Gloriose Ntibarikure from Right at Home Alpharetta, Georgia, on her recognition as the 2024 Right at Home Southeast Region Caregiver of the Year! She was selected from thousands of other caregivers for her exemplary commitment to making a difference in the lives of her clients and team members.
When Keith Cameron’s health weakened, he was moved from his home to the hospital. Since his in-home caregiver, Gloriose, was no longer making house visits, she would call and check on him and his family.
When Gloriose learned her beloved client’s health was worsening, she made a personal visit.
“The moment my dad saw her, he cried,” said Susie Lane, Keith’s daughter.
Gloriose has provided in-home care for Keith since 2020. She made it clear from the beginning that the family could trust her and that Keith would love her like a daughter—and he did.
The family requested Gloriose join them at the hospital. She worked with the hospital staff and showed them what Keith liked and did not like. She read him the paper, bathed him, and gave the family much-needed breaks. With Gloriose by Keith’s side, the family felt calm and reassured that he was in the best hands. At the end of his life, Gloriose held Keith’s hands and played beautiful hymns while the family embraced their father and grandfather for the last time.
“The last act for my dad was nothing short of pure love,” said Susie.
She and Gloriose are still friends today and connect over movies, dinner, and phone calls, like sisters.
That bond and feeling of unconditional love spreads to each client and family in Gloriose's path, including Carolyn and Arthur Donovan. Gloriose is extraordinarily attentive in communication with the couple’s health providers. She accompanies the couple’s son when he takes his parents to the doctor so she can share health updates with the professionals and learn more about any updates they have to the care plans. When the physical therapist gives new exercises to the couple, Gloriose makes sure she tries the exercises first so she is confident in helping her clients.
“Gloriose leads with love,” said Heather Schuman, the daughter of the Donovans. “Her personality, caregiving capacities, and values are a magical combination. Gloriose is a gift to our entire family.”
“Our office is extremely proud of Gloriose,” said Susan Brown, owner of Right at Home Alpharetta. “She approaches her work with empathy and understanding and recognizes the unique needs of her clients and their families. We couldn’t be more thankful to have her as part of the Right at Home team.”
Honoring Our Caregivers
National and Regional Caregivers of the Year are the highest honors awarded by Right at Home. Caregivers are nominated for their exemplary commitment to making a difference in the lives of their clients and teams. The winners are selected by a committee that includes Right at Home representatives and community professionals from outside health care, senior care and caregiving organizations. The award is presented annually during the organization’s conference.
