Where to Find HCA and CNA Classes in Washington

If you’re interested in becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Home Care Aide (HCA) in Washington, it’s important to understand the licensing and training requirements. Washington State requires that caregivers either hold an active CNA or HCA license or are actively working towards licensure to provide care. Below are some guidelines and resources to help you find classes and programs that meet these requirements.

1. Basic Training Requirements for HCAs

To work as a long-term care worker in Washington, you’ll need to complete 75 hours of Basic Training to become certified as a Home Care Aide (HCA). You can locate certified instructors and training courses via Washington’s Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) website:

These training programs are approved by DSHS and can provide you with the necessary education to begin your career in home care. Remember to select the option for 'All 75 hours' and choose the County for a more tailored search.

2. Approved CNA Programs

If you’re interested in becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant, the Washington State Department of Health provides a list of approved CNA training programs throughout the state. These programs cover the fundamentals of nursing care and prepare you for certification. Here is the direct link to Washington’s Nursing Assistant Training Programs:

Washington State Approved CNA Training Programs

These programs will help you meet the state’s requirements to obtain your CNA license and become eligible to work in various healthcare settings, including home care.

It’s best to reach out to the programs directly for detailed information on costs, schedules, and admissions requirements. Many programs offer flexible schedules, such as part-time or evening classes, which can be ideal if you are currently employed or have other commitments.
