Finding Family History at Senior Star at Dublin Retirement Village
Our Family History class last month was a HUGE success at Senior Star at Dublin Retirement Village. We were able to help participants find family connections through Ancestry...we even found an old picture of a nostalgic childhood home!
We emphasize the importance of recording a personal history and to introduce themselves, each participant talked about their first job. What a wonderful group with a rich history of life experiences....we discovered a "Newsie" in the audience, though he did not sing and dance, he did sell newspapers
Our Family History class focuses on 3 highlights:
- Personal history – recording your personal history is so important to your family – where you grew up? What was you first job? Etc
- Medical history – record you medical history and pass it onto your family to help them understand the important of health choices and early testing
- We guide individuals through filling in their 4 generations of their family tree on Ancestry.com. Once we have found and verified all 4 generations we will print out their family tree and present it to them!
