Paul’s Story
Growing up I lived with my grandparents who had a big impact in my life. When my grandfather passed away about 10 years ago it was truly a loss that changed the lives of many people including the love of his life my grandmother. I saw my grandmother hurt and try to continue to live life alone without her partner and best friend. There are so many people that have to go through this in life as they get older, and not everyone has a family or support system to help ease that pain.
I saw the opportunity with Right at Home to connect wonderful caregivers with seniors that need care and companionship. Grandparents are a family’s strongest foundation. They are the founders of a loving legacy and the keepers of family traditions that we pass down to our children. The least we can do is to make sure they’re taken care of and have the best care possible. I was lucky enough to live with two amazing grandparents growing up who showed me unconditional love and support.
As I see my grandmother getting older and facing obstacles that most seniors do, I worry about her being alone and taken care of. Being able to provide care to all the grandmothers and grandfathers that we serve is special to me, and I will always make sure they get the same care as if they were my own.
My grandfather was a Marine and worked in the union his whole life giving to everyone around him. My grandmother raised four children and one Grandson while working most of her life. My grandparents hold a special place in my heart and always will. They showed me love and support and how to be a good man and a man of faith. When I work with seniors in assisted living facilities, nursing homes or in their own home I always remember that they are probably someone’s grandparents and I always make sure they get the love and care they deserve.
