Caregiver Spotlight
Our Caregiver of the Year - Kelina Matthews
The office staff all voted for Caregiver of the Year and it was a unanimous decision – Ms. Kelina Matthews received all of our votes! Reliable, compassionate and self-sacrificing are just a few of the words used to describe Kelina. Kelina has demonstrated great maturity and compassion with all of her clients. She is always thinking of her clients and looking for ways to make their day brighter. A long-term client describes her as "an angel who starts my day out beautifully and sings with me as I play my piano". Kelina is a dedicated employee and we are blessed to have her as part of our team.
Brings Joy to Clients
She points out wood figurines that were made by her client's husband in order for her client to remember the meaning behind each figure. She has multiple clients yet manages to keep track of each one's likes, dislikes and health conditions. When Kelina is introduced to a new client her mission is to discover what brings joy into their lives. She does a great job living up to this mission!
Living the Right at Home Values
Kelina represents our Right at Home brand very well by always serving with a smile and doing the right things for the right reasons. She's a purpose driven person and she's determined to bring quality care to our client's lives. Also, she tells her friends, family and colleagues how great it is to work for Right at Home. Kelina is a warm, caring and sincere ambassador for the Right at Home brand.
Team Spirit
If the business of care giving was in the baseball world, then Kelina is a "five tool player". She excels at providing companion care, personal care; she's an avid learner, a great instructor, and a passionate leader. Kelina is very insightful and knows exactly what role is needed of her in all situations. Sometimes, she's the care team leader and communicates any updates in care plans to her fellow caregivers and provides the necessary training to meet the new requirements. Other times, she's the one receiving training from our Office Staff. Whether Kelina's providing companion or personal care, our clients always request her back. Kelina is our MVP!
Always Learning
When Kelina joined our team, she was already a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) working for an assisted living facility. She joined Right at Home knowing home care is a completely different ball game. The 1:1 interaction with our clients in their home presented Kelina with many new opportunities for growth. She learned to cook for our clients' dietary requirements, she learned to perform transfers on her own, but most of all she learned to rely on her heart to take the initiatives needed to be a valued member of our clients' village!
