Our Community

We are proud to say that as essential workers, our Right at Home Care Team has been working non-stop through this Covid-19 pandemic. We are honored to have such well-trained, communicative, and reliable staff. To say thank you to them at this time is an effort that by anyone’s standards fall short because we don’t have the words. So, as a token of thanks we are delivering a gift bag of goodies to say a very humble thank you for being so great! We hope that this small gesture will be only one of the ways we show our appreciation during this time. Team RAH Snoco we appreciate you so very much. Blessings, the Right at Home Team!

Client and Caregiver Making The Trek Together

 Pedaling for Parkinsons

Pedaling power: Group with Parkinson's goes the distance from Seattle to Miami.

A Snohomish County group made a virtual trek from Seattle to Miami and they did it on two wheels. Three times a week a group of cyclers, including a Right at Home Snohomish & N. King County client and a caregiver, attend a "Pedaling for Parkinson's" cycling class at the YMCA in Mill Creek. The group got to work, pedaling about 200 miles a class, to make the more than 3,000 mile trip cross country. The cyclers accomplished their goal, pedaling the distance from Seattle to Miami. In fact, they actually rode far enough they went into the ocean!

Watch the KOMO News report on this outstanding feat and the Pedaling for Parkinson's cycling class.

12 Days of Goodness

Right at Home Snohomish County 12 Days of Goodness         Victoria Johnston Right at Home Snohomish County 12 Days of Goodness

Victoria Johnston, Owner/Direct Care Supervisor of Right at Home Everett/Snohomish County was proud to be part of the '12 Days of Goodness' at The Carl Gipson Senior Center, Everett.

The '12 Days of Goodness' was created by Suzanne Perkins Newman, a lifelong Seattle football fan, who used to share games with her father as an original season ticket holder. Her father had one dream: For our hometown team to win the Super Bowl. Yet her father was never able to see that day, as he passed away in 2002. Suzanne went on to care for her mom for the last six years of her mother’s life. Because she found online resources so limited, she founded Answers for Elders to support families as they are navigating through the complex and complicated world of senior care. Numerous studies sadly confirm that close to 60% of seniors are without regular visitors. That’s why, from December 12th to the 23rd, the fans team up with Seattle Football Legends as we all work together to remind every senior that they are loved and cherished. For 12 days in December, with the help of Seattle’s football Legends, football fans are encouraged to be more mindful of their senior loved ones during the holidays, and throughout the year. We encourage you to give at least one act of kindness to a senior during these 12 days.

Cognitive Support Training

Vicki Johnston Graduating from Cognitive Support Training

The Right at Home Care Team has received basic training in Cognitive Support through Positive Approach. This coming Fall the Care Team will expand its knowledge with Person Centered Care through the Cognitive Support Program. If you have any additional questions please call Victoria Johnston 425-290-1714.

Goal: To improve the quality of life for those living with dementia and cognitive change.

Impact: Right at Home’s RightCare approach to dementia and cognitive support is grounded in the idea that ALL clients, regardless of the severity or progression of their cognitive change, have abilities to interact and connect with their surroundings.

RightCare: Dementia and Cognitive Support (RightCare DCS) is delivered by Certified Cognitive Support Program Providers who have received highly specialized training from the local Right at Home Office to deliver an individualized Personal Plan that accounts for ability, personhood, and lifestyle risk factors known to increase symptoms of dementia, so that, together with families, we can improve the quality of life for those we serve.

Validation: Right at Home, LLC. partnered with Jackie Pool to create RightCare DCS. Jackie is a published expert and an Occupational Therapist with more than 30 years’ experience providing dementia support. Jackie was mentored by Tom Kitwood, a pioneer in the field of person-centered dementia care, whose research focused on understanding what care is like from the standpoint of the person living with dementia.

Jackie’s research, and her work with Tom, culminated in the creation of the Pool Activity Level (PAL) Checklist. Jackie’s PAL Checklist went on to be scientifically tested and validated for adults living with dementia by University College, London in 2005. The PAL Checklist serves as the proven foundation for RightCare DCS. To read the PAL Checklist validity and reliability study, reference Assessing the Validity and Reliability of the Pool Activity Level.

Spring 2018 Caregiver Celebration

We recently honored our Caregivers at our Spring Celebration at Alfy’s Pizza on Broadway in Everett. A great time was had by all. We also announced our 2018 Caregiver of the year, Gail Morris. Victoria Johnston, owner and Direct Care Supervisor was thrilled to present this award to Gail.

 Caregiver Celebration

When we hire caregivers, we ask ourselves one simple question: "Would I want this person caring for my mother or father?" If the answer is "No" we don't hire them. We are fortunate to work with caregivers who want more than a job; they want to make a difference in the lives of those in their care. It is our job to make sure our caregivers have the right tools and that we provide the RightApproach to make them successful. Celebrating them and their success is important to us.

Lions Club Reading Action Program

Victoria Harding Johnston of Right at Home Snohomish and N. King County and fellow members of Lions Club International assisted in the Reading Action Program. Victoria and fellow Lions believe in giving back to the local community.

Lions Club Reading Action Program

Literacy -- the ability to read and write -- is the foundation for education and social development. Yet, hundreds of millions of adults lack minimum literacy skills and millions of school-aged children are not attending school to obtain them.

The Reading Action Program is a 10-year commitment to increasing reading and literacy rates. It’s a call to action for every Lions club around the world to organize service projects and activities that underscore the importance of reading and address specific needs related to illiteracy within their own community

Washington Owners Meeting 2017

Washington Owners Meeting 2017 Group Photo

Yearly the owners get together to celebrate and support one another’s businesses. “We meet to encourage one another” said Victoria Johnston. We also discuss issues that are pending for healthcare, home care, licensing, and best practices. We approach caregiving as not just a business but to develop a brand that meets the standards of our corporate company Right at Home, our Washington standards and our own personal Right Care Standards to provide the Right People, with the Right Services, with the Right Approach that focuses on the Right Mission, to improve the quality of life for those we serve. Whether you are a referral source or a potential client with a need for a family member we make it seamless so that when you call one of us we can put you in touch with one person at each agency rather than having you call many people. Our Right at Home Corporate office sponsors the meeting and lets us know of upcoming changes and how they can best support us. Over the years we have developed great friendships and deep respect for one another as we strive for excellence in serving others in our communities.
