Essential Functions

The Personal Care Aide (PCA/CNA) provides specifically non-medical care services and home making services 1:1 in the home or residential facility. The non-medical personal care services include, but are not limited to : Personal Care, Dressing, Bathing, Ambulation, Body Care, Feeding, Medication Assistance Level 2, Positioning, Protective Supervision, Toileting and Transfers, Colostomy Care, Catheter Care, ROM exercises active and passive, preparing special diets measuring intake and output and shaving (electrical only), nail care (filing only) and other duties that the PCA has been trained or certified to perform. If the PCA is certified under Nurse Delegation or Nurse Delegation Diabetes, when delegated by an RN, they may perform tasks that fall under Nurse Licensing, except for injections other than insulin, sterile procedures and maintenance of central lines. Twenty (20%) of duties will be homemaking activities that the client is unable to perform and these tasks assist the client with their IADLs.

HCA/Homemaker Companion: Performs homemaking activities which include (but are not limited to): vacuuming, dusting, sweeping or mopping floors, doing dishes, changing bed linens, doing laundry and cleaning bathrooms, transportation, meal preparation, errands and providing companionship for the client. This includes accompanying client on walks, trips to social/recreational activities, assistance with hobbies, etc.

Requirements

  • Certified as a CNA or HCA in Washington State
  • CPR/First Aid Card
  • Food Handlers Card
  • Negative 2 Step TB Test
  • A drivers' license and automobile
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Previous care experience (experience with alzheimers/dementia preferred)
  • Nurse Delegation a plus
  • High school graduate or G.E.D certificate preferred
  • Own a smart phone and access to a computer is beneficial

Compensation:

  • Starting wage DOE
