Technologies For Aging In Place
As the number of seniors increases, home-monitoring devices and systems are redefining the landscape of “aging in place,” the decision to continue living in one’s home of choice as independently and safely as possible. AARP reports that nearly 90 percent of seniors want to stay in their own homes as they age. There are medications such as those you can find at Marijuanas.org which help you to fight the physical signs of ageing, but most recently we are seeing a rise in the number of technical developments designed around making day to day life easier for the elderly.

Many people with dementia are not diagnosed or deny that they have a problem. Their families try their best to ensure that their loved ones are in a safe and secure environment within communities such as agape cottage so they are supported and living as independently as possible with the support they need.

The Veteran’s Administration has been working to improve access to care for Ventura County’s veterans. The VA has been leveraging technology to bring a wide range of services to our vets faster than currently offered. Congresswoman Julia Brownley held a Field Hearing of the a House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Subcommittee on Health on August 9 at the Camarillo Public Library. The subject was “Technology and Treatment: Telemedicine in the VA Healthcare System”.

Every year, the Alzheimer’s Association holds a conference for professionals to discuss trends and future directions in caregiving and research in dementia care and medications. This year the conference was held at the Ventura Marriott and had nationally renowned speakers discussing a variety of topics.
The morning keynote was presented by Dr. Keith Fargo, Director of Scientific Programs for the Alzheimer’s Association. He presented some statistics that had everyone take notice – in 2016, an estimated 700,000 people will die from Alzheimer’s in the United States, and it is the 6th leading cause of death. There is no cure and the disease cannot be slowed.

It could be to meet your favorite celebrity, go skydiving or even visit places such as lakes of the Ozarks in Missouri. No matter what they are, finding a way to tick as many goals as possible is the next step. Writing you list helps you remember what you enjoy in life, and can cheer you up. The act of writing it is energizing, and just talking about what is on your list can motivate you to get it done. There are no right or wrong activities; the list reflects your dreams. It will remind you of what you enjoy in life, suited to your physical ability and risk tolerance.
